 Monkey Jam         Step By step   Other ACME resources for teachers 

 

 

 

Starting a new project :                                                          

 

*** Make sure your WebCam is connected to the computer before starting!!

 

Step 1

 

   Locate and open Monkey Jam from your desktop

 

or select it from "All Programs" Start>All Programs      

If you can not find it talk to the following experts 2nd period (currently no one) Period 6 (currently no one)

 

Step 2

 

 Select File> New XPS with folders from the menu bar . . .     

 

 

* * * Each and every New Monkey Jam project/animation should have a "new" folder. 

Understand folder Hierarchies

 

Step 3 

 Select and or create a new folder. Follow the Directions  

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Shooting Frames:                                            

 

 Step 1

 

Select : Tools<Capture< Video   or Hot key (F6) or click on the Cam tool (See below)

 

 

 

 

 

                                                         

 

 

 

Step 2

 

Select camera in the menu bar and select a camera (Usually the first one, Make sure you have the proper software for it)

 

Step 3

 

Press Capture for each frame you would like to "snap".

 

 

 

Manipulating frames Timing/ Editing frames / Adding layers  

 

Manipulating frames takes some practice. You need to know what you want to do and then figure out how to do it. 

 

 

Adding Blank frames

Select: Edit> Add 10 frames or click on the number 10 on the tool bar

 

Adding a new Layer

Select: Edit> add layer  or  press Control + L        You can have a second layer as a backgroud!!! Test it out

 

Moving frames

Select the top of the frame with your cursor (arrow) click and drag into empty frames. Add a layer (Above) to have even more free area to move frames around. 

 

Extending frames

Click and drag frames from the bottom (the little rectangle) to extend the time a frame is "on screen". Make sure there are blank frame space available so you can stretch your frames.

 

Changing the Frames Per Second (FPS)

You can also change the frames per second (FPS) setting in the menu bar   Settings<FPS< select a number (12 would be best for animation)

 

 

 

Previewing your Project/ Animation                        

 

 Step 1

 

Select Tools> TV icon o>
